The Intermediate Public Examinations (Theory) 2026 began on Wednesday with the second language paper-I for first year students. As per the draw of lots conducted by Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) secretary Krishna Aditya at 6 a.m., the question paper was from set B.

The exam began at 9 a.m. and continued until 12 noon. As per earlier directions, grace time of five minutes was given to students to enter the exam centres. There were, however, a few incidents where students could not reach even after the relaxation and were denied entry, such as in Nizamabad, Jagtial and Rajanna Sircilla districts.

The arrangements at centres and facilities for students, according to Mr. Krishna Aditya, were satisfactory, and officials were instructed to continue maintaining the same for the rest of the exam schedule. Reviewing the implementation of guidelines to ensure smooth and fair conduct, he visited exam centres at Avinash College of Commerce, St. Francis Junior College for Girls, St. Mary’s Centenary Junior College, and MRMR Govt. Junior College, and Excellencia Junior College in and around Secunderabad.

According to figures released by BIE, of the total 5,14,598 registered candidates, 4,98,695 (96.90%) attempted the exam on Wednesday. The Board also said that exam observers were sent to various centres at Medchal, Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Jangaon, Suryapet, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Sircilla, Bhupalapally, Warangal, Karimnagar, Asifabad, Adilabad, Mulugu, Medak, Khammam and Yadadri.
