INTUC stages protest urging clearance of paddy stocks

Members of the INTUC-affiliated workers’ union staged a demonstration in front of the office of the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation (TNCSC) in Mannargudi on Monday, urging the authorities to expedite the movement of paddy stocks lying at direct procurement centres in Tiruvarur district.

The protest was organised to draw attention to the accumulation of nearly 32 lakh metric tonnes of paddy bags at direct procurement centres (DPCs) across the district. The union urged the authorities to immediately move the stocks to avoid damage and ensure smooth procurement operations.
