The PPP model hospitals will increase medical seats and healthcare access for the poor, asserts Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav.

Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav on Thursday accused former Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy of deliberately obstructing development and misleading the public through “irresponsible protests and false propaganda.”
At a press conference, Mr. Satya Kumar condemned the “threats” allegedly made to companies involved in the construction of medical colleges, and challenged Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy to seek a CBI inquiry, or legal action, if he had proof of any wrongdoing.
The Minister defended the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model of developing the medical colleges, stating that it was an NDA policy and it was also used during the previous YSR and YSRCP regimes for services such as ‘108’, Aarogyasri, and Cath Labs.
Mr. Satya Kumar said ₹6,000 crore had been spent under NTR Vaidya Seva in 18 months, and reiterated the NDA’s goal of providing medical coverage up to ₹25 lakh for 1. 4 crore families.
He alleged corruption in scholarship schemes and hospital constructions during the previous YSRCP government’s term, and dismissed claims on the misuse of funds, and asserted that the PPP model hospitals would increase medical seats and healthcare access for the poor.
Mr. Satya Kumar further claimed that the allegations made by Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy were politically motivated, and warned that such behaviour could further weaken his own party. He said the YSRCP government had never sent the AYUSH proposals to the Centre.
He also denied the allegation that ₹300 crore was spent on the yoga day event held in Visakhapatnam, and said it was a Centrally-funded programme.
