About 30 sovereigns of gold jewellery and ₹1 lakh in cash were stolen from a locked house in Singampunari.
Police said J. Alamelu of Sandhiveeran Kudam area in Singampunari had been living with her two sons since the death of her husband. A few days ago, she had gone with her family to Periyakulam in Theni district.
When they returned home on Sunday night, they found the lock broken and the door open. On entering the house, they found that 30 sovereigns of jewellery and ₹1 lakh kept in a wardrobe had been stolen.
The Singampunari police have registered a case and are investigating.
