Observing that Republic Day reminded everyone that ‘justice is not an abstract ideal but a daily pursuit’, Telangana High Court Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh on Monday said that 79,029 cases were disposed of out of the 79,029 cases instituted in the HC in 2025.
That translated into 95% disposal with the 70% of the strength of judges, he said after unfurling the national flag on the HC premises here. While construction of the new HC complex at Rajendranagar was in good progress, foundations were being laid at the district headquarters of Wanaparthy, Bhuvanagiri, Mancherial, Janagaon, Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Mahbubnagar and Nirmal for construction of 10 plus 2 court building complexes.
A notification was issued for filling ups 859 ministerial posts in the district judiciary. The Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee launched ‘Mediation for the Nation 2.0’ to identify cases suitable for mediation. In Telangana, 1,76,655 cases were suitable for mediation, the CJ said. With the Constitution having cast upon the judiciary the onerous task to function as the conscience keeper of the Constitution, the Bar and the Bench should carry out the administration of justice vigilantly, he said.
Telangana HC Bar Association president A. Jagan said the courts should remain accessible to every citizen and act as instruments of justice. The Telangana Bar Council chairman A. Narasimha Reddy observed that the judiciary should be more sensitive to the problems faced by the vast majority of the people who don’t have access to basic amenities, let alone access to judicial system.
Advocate General A. Sudarhan Reddy said the Indian Constitution’s chief architect B.R. Ambedkar cautioned that constitutional morality was not a natural sentiment but it had to be cultivated.
