Udayagiri MLA Kakarla Suresh on Sunday (December 21, 2025) firmly asserted that “he is here to stay,” dismissing his opponents claims that “the NRI who would soon disappear from the constituency,” and cautioned them to stay out of his affairs or risk facing his anger.
Addressing the media at Nellore for the first time in eighteen months after the NDA Alliance came to power, the MLA dismissed allegations of corruption against him.
He also released statistics on funds allocated to his constituency’s development, department-wise, mandal-wise. The far-flung constituency lacks major water resources and the mandals are scattered, he said. Of the eight mandals viz., Udayagiri, Jaladanki, Kondapuram, Vinjamur, Varikuntapadu, Kaligiri, Duttalur and Sitaramapuram, irrigation water from Somasila reservoir is available only to two, making the rest dependent on rain-fed irrigation, he added.
“The government is spending ₹67 crore for widening of the Somasila north canal. Of the 149 tanks in our constituency, elections were conducted to the respective associations and ₹7 crore spent for strengthening the tanks. Today, every farmer gets water twice a year,” Mr. Suresh said.
Similarly, the State had allocated ₹150 crore towards development of roads, and another ₹46 crore for two years from the MGNREGA funds to strengthen the rural roads. “For three decades, we were listening to the tall talk of establishing a dialysis centre at Vinjamur Community Health Centres (CHC), which we have realised today”.
Mr. Suresh also announced an ambitious plan to run compressed biogas plants across the dry belt. He recalled an NRI investor evincing interest to grow Napier grass in 200 acres to run a five-tonne capacity plant, followed by similar offers from the Reliance group.
On the tourism front, ₹52 crore had been released to develop the Udayagiri fort, Vengamamba Thalli, and Siddheswaram temples. “We will have enough footfall once the three are linked to form a tourism hub,” he said, seeking support of the Endowments and Tourism Departments.
With so many development projects in his kitty, the MLA said that he would never leave the constituency ‘as dreamt by some’ and would stay active in politics for the next 25 years.
