Kanniyakumari Collector M. Prathap on Monday held an interactive meeting with representatives from Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and private sector companies as part of the ‘Coffee with Collector,’ initiative held at the district collectorate.
The meeting was organised by Kanniyakumari district administration in partnership with StartupTN.
Addressing the meeting, Mr. Prathap said the role of startups is very important in transforming the new innovations and business ideas of youth into successful businesses and to strengthen new industries in the district. He added young entrepreneurs should take full advantage of various subsidy schemes provided by the government. Educational institutions and career development centres should work together to stimulate entrepreneurial interest among the youth, he said.
During the meeting each entrepreneur discussed their innovative products, services provided and future expansion plans. As the contribution of startups is very important for the economic development of the district, the demands of entrepreneurs, the challenges they face, and the infrastructure facilities required to start new business were discussed in detail. The collector said necessary action will be taken to address the demands of entrepreneurs.
A new employment website called, ‘Hire Kumari,’ was launched with the participation of a startup company called, , ‘alo infotech,’ from Kanniyakumari district. The website will act as a bridge between job seekers of Kanniyakumari district and the employment agencies.
Mr. Prathap further added that a district level hackathon would be held soon to find technical solutions to the real challenges and problems faced by various government departments.
