“Thirukkural” student conference has been scheduled to be held in Nagercoil on January 23 and 24.
Kanniyakumari Collector R. Alagumeena on Wednesday conducted a review meeting with department officials ahead of “Thirukkural” to be organised at Ponjesly Engineering College in Nagercoil.
The conference will see a participation of over 1,500 students from all the districts of Tamil Nadu, who have cleared the qualifying test. District Chief Education officers, and District Education Officers of all the districts will also take part.
The conference aims to develop the unique talents of students and express Tamil pride. A film screening and a painting exhibition will also be at the conference, which will highlight the history of Tamil Nadu and its people.
Ms. Algumeena has directed the authorities to ensure that halls are kept ready for students to participate in various competitions such as poetry, short story writing, elocution, quiz and others.
Officials of Tamil Nadu Electricity Board were instructed to ensure uninterrupted power supply at the conference venue. The concerned department officials were also directed to maintain the sanitation across the college campus.
It was further stated during the meeting that the students should be served with traditional dishes of Kanniyakumari along with other dishes and were instructed to prepare the food in a delicious and hygienic manner for the students and other participants.
The officials were also directed to make necessary arrangements for transportation, accommodation and other basic facilities to the students in an efficient manner.
