The State government stands by Deputy Commissioner of Belagavi Mohammad Roshan, with regard to the prohibitory orders issued against Maharashtra MP Dhairyasheel Mane, Minister Satish Jarkiholi said on Wednesday (December 24, 2025).
Speaking to reporters in Belagavi, he said that Mr. Roshan’s act of prohibiting Mr. Mane from entering Belagavi district was right, as he wanted to avoid law and order problems during the Black Day observation by Maharashtra Ekikaran Samithi on November 1.
“As of now, Mr. Mane has complained to Speaker Om Birla that his privilege has been violated. But no notice has been issued to the officer. If some action is initiated against the DC, the State government will support him in the legal fight,” Mr. Jarkiholi said. He urged all the MPs from Karnataka to raise their voice in favor of Mr. Roshan.
He said he would speak to the police commissioner about the issue of police not acting against a POCSO accused in rural Belagavi. “I believe that the police should not yield to political pressure, especially in POCSO cases. They should take the necessary legal action, including filing a POCSO case. I have read about the case in the media. I will ask the police to act strictly,” he said.
He said that the CM Siddaramaiah would take the final decision on the division of Belagavi district.
“The State Cabinet has already approved the project for the construction of the much-awaited flyover in Belagavi, which will be approximately 2.03 km long from National Highway 48 to Dharmaveer Sambhaji Circle. There is no need to acquire land anywhere for this project. We have decided to extend this project up to the 3rd Gate of Belagavi. This project will reduce traffic congestion in the city and facilitate smooth movement,” he said.
