In a dramatic reversal of the 2016 and 2021 mandates, the Left Democratic Front (LDF) saw its strongholds crumble as a strong United Democratic Front (UDF) wave swept through Kollam. This collapse was characterised by the defeat of long-standing political titans and a near-total erosion of the Red Fort, leaving the LDF with only a couple of surviving pockets in a district it once dominated with absolute authority.
While the UDF captured eight out of 11 seats and the BJP made a historic breakthrough by winning Chathannur, the LDF has been reduced to just two seats, Punalur and Kottarakara.
