High voter turnout marked the Assembly elections in Wayanad on Thursday (April 9, 2026). According to preliminary reports, 78.81% of the total 6,43,625 electors cast their ballots when polling closed at 6 p.m. in the district. The voting percentage is likely to increase as the Election Commission has not yet released the final figures.
Among the three constituencies in Wayanad, Kalpetta recorded the highest voter turnout, with about 80.35% of voters exercising their franchise. It was followed by the Scheduled Tribe (ST) segments of Mananthavady (78.96%) and Sulthan Bathery (77.21%).
In the 2021 Assembly polls, the district registered a voter turnout of 76.51%. Then, the Mananthavady segment recorded 78.12% polling, Sulthan Bathery 75.88%, and Kalpetta 75.65%.
