Two personnel of the Kerala State Sports Council have been suspended from service in connection with alleged irregularities related to purchases.
Arun T.S., a senior clerk, and Nithin Roy, a clerk, have been suspended on charges of lapses in discharge of duties, as per an order from the council secretary’s office.
Mr. Arun has prima facie been found responsible for lapses in purchase, custody, processing, and handover of related files.
Mr. Roy has prima facie been found responsible for lapses in purchase of sports kit/track suit and custody, processing, and handover of related files.
As per Section 10 (1) (a) of the Kerala Civil Services (Classification, Control, and Appeal) Rules 1960, a government servant can be suspended if disciplinary action against the employee is contemplated or pending. This provision is applicable to the Kerala State Sports Council officials and staff as per Section 22(4) of the Kerala Sports Rules, 2008.
