Kerala Women’s Commission Chairperson P. Sathidevi has expressed her displeasure over recent court verdicts in custodial rape and gang rape cases.
Addressing the media here on Thursday (December 18), she said that though ensuring maximum sentence in such cases was the norm, the judicial verdicts in some recent cases had gone against this. Ms. Sathidevi pointed out that it was a cause for concern that the accused in gang rape cases were getting only the minimum sentence.
Meanwhile, an official release quoting her said the Commission was not satisfied with the court verdict in the actor assault case. The Cyber police should take action against those who bully the survivor on social media, as per sections of the IT Act, Ms. Sathidevi said.
