Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy wondered why Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was “busy trying to impress the AIMIM rather than impressing the people of Telangana”.

Addressing the ‘Meet the Press’ at the Press Club in Hyderabad on Thursday, he questioned the CM’s approach towards minorities, and asked, “Doesn’t Revanth Reddy need the respect of Hindus? Is he concerned only about Muslims?” For the first time, MIM legislators are directly campaigning as they feel Naveen Yadav is an MIM candidate, he alleged.

Mr. Kishan Reddy also questioned why the Congress leaders were not speaking about the six guarantees promised before the Assembly elections. “Instead of talking about what they promised, they are busy making personal attacks. Congress is deceiving people just like the BRS did earlier,” he said, adding, “Free bus travel is not a solution to all problems.”

BJP contributions

Rejecting personal attacks from the Chief Minister, he explained his contributions to the State through various projects. The huge investment of the Centre in modernising railway stations and the rail network, including MMTS Phase-II, as well as Regional Railway and Regional Ring Road plans, all have my contribution as the Union Minister, he said. Defence production and research activities had expanded massively in Telangana, though details could not be shared due to security reasons.

He said that ₹15,627 crore will be sanctioned for the Regional Ring Road project once the Cabinet clears it, and he had personally impressed upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Secunderabad Railway Station renovation is 46% completed and several railway stations in the city were being modernised by the Centre.

On the Hyderabad Metro issue and the ‘harsh’ language being used against him, Mr. Kishan Reddy said that the Chief Minister was “unnecessarily targeting” him. “They are not sending the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and yet expect a response from the Centre. I will not respond in the same tone as the Chief Minister. As a disciplined soldier of the BJP and Telangana, I will maintain dignity,” he stated.

He also said that the BRS was similar in its approach and recalled that he had written 40 letters to former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on state-related issues then but did not receive a single reply.

Rejecting the idea that the Jubilee Hills byelection was a referendum on the Congress government, Mr. Kishan Reddy said voters were yet to decide whom to support as BRS had slipped to third position after the Lok Sabha elections.

Mr. Kishan Reddy alleged that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was not allowing Mr. Revanth Reddy to act against K.T. Rama Rao, while KTR himself admitted that Mr. Rahul Gandhi was not interested in Mr. Revanth Reddy but continuing for other political reasons. “This shows how these parties are working together,” he said.

BJP spokesperson N.V. Subhash was also present.
