National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI), president Vinod K. Singh on Saturday urged students of K.L. Deemed to be University (KLU) to help eradicate corruption and lead a life of integrity.

Speaking at the 15th convocation of the institution, he said students should aim for a good career rather than just having a job. “A job may give you financial security, but a career will give you purpose, ambition and life-long growth,” he said, emphasising that discipline, lifelong learning, and punctuality were key aspects one should not lose sight of.

Degrees were conferred on nearly 5,000 students, including 184 PhD scholars, over 700 postgraduates, and more than 4,500 undergraduate students. A total of 44 gold and 40 silver medals, along with cash prizes, were awarded to meritorious students.

KL University chancellor Koneru Satyanarayana encouraged students to look beyond employment and aim for entrepreneurship and innovation, stressing the importance of job creators and innovators in India’s growth story. He urged the graduates to carry forward the university’s innovation ecosystem, particularly the support provided to them through the Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship Development (CIIIE).

Subbarao, pro-chancellors, pro vice-chancellors, deans, directors, heads of departments, academic council members, KL EEF secretary Koneru Siva Kanchanalatha, vice-presidents Koneru Raja Harin and board member Koneru Nikhila, along with university leadership, students and parents participated.
