Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has demanded the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and urged the Supreme Court to take suo motu cognisance of alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and order an independent investigation headed by a sitting judge.
In a post on social media on Friday (October 9, 2026), Mr. Rao asserted that the Constitution of India was supreme and that no Indian citizen could be deprived of the right to vote. He maintained that no individual was above an institution and questioned the need to protect one person at the cost of the rights of citizens.

“This nation has seen many individuals come and go, and it has remained strong. So why this desperation to protect one man?” he asked, questioning how one individual could be considered more important than the rights of 1.4 billion Indians.
Declaring that “time’s up for Gyanesh Kumar”, Mr. Rao alleged that attempts were being made to create a system that undermined the fundamental principles of the country. He reiterated his demand for the Supreme Court to intervene in the SIR process and order an independent probe, supervised by a sitting judge, to examine the alleged irregularities.
