Following normal flow of water, the Forest Department officials on Wednesday permitted the public inside Kumbakkarai waterfalls.
Due to rainfall in Kodaikanal and surrounding areas, water began flowing into Kumbakkarai waterfalls after a gap of several months. Access to the waterfalls had been restricted due to a lack of rainfall.
After remaining closed for months, the waterfalls saw a surge in water flow following rains in Kodaikanal and surrounding areas. Earlier, Forest Department officials said tourists would be permitted after assessing the water flow. Tourists would be allowed subject to the water flow remaining steady, the authorities had said.
