A Ganesh idol immersion gets under way at the K-C Canal in Kurnool city on Tuesday.

Drums beats and dance performances by devotees marked the grand Ganesh idol immersion processions held across Kurnool on Tuesday. Thousands of devotees participated in the procession, raising slogans such as ‘Ganesh Maharaj Ki Jai’ and ‘Ganapati Bappa Moriya’ amid tight police bandobust and elaborate arrangements by the Kurnool Municipal Corporation.
The immersion of nearly 1,500 idols of various sizes and shapes continued till late at the Vinayak Ghat on K-C Canal, the HNSS canal near Nannur tollgate, and Ulindakonda.
Industries and Commerce Minister T.G. Bharath Gupta, Panyam MLA Gouru Charitha Reddy, District Collector A. Siri, and Superintendent of Police (SP) P. Vikrant Patil performed special pujas at the Ganesh pandal in Rambotla temple, as per tradition. Later, the ‘Vinayaka Shobha Yatra’ commenced and Ganesh idols installed at various pandals joined the procession to the designated immersion ghats.

The laddu offered to the Lord at Rambotla temple pandal was auctioned, as it is every year. For the sixth consecutive year, Nandyal MP Byreddy Shabari won the laddu in the auction by offering ₹4 lakh.
Meanwhile, Mr. Bharath commended the Kurnool Municipal Corporation (KMC) officials for making arrangements for the smooth conduct of the idol immersion ceremony. “Despite facing unprecedented challenges like water scarcity this year, officials took proactive measures to ensure the Ganesh immersion process faced no hurdles. The upstream and downstream areas of the canal were inspected, and special arrangements were made to retain sufficient water to facilitate the immersion,” he said.
The Minister also expressed hope that by the grace of the Lord, Andhra Pradesh would receive abundant rainfall that would fill rivers and canals.
Panyam MLA Gouru Charitha Reddy said that it is tradition to worship Lord Vinayaka before commencing any auspicious task. The MLA stated that the Ganesh immersion event had been organised in a grand manner at the Rambotla temple for nearly 40 years, and it was conducted with great devotion and grandeur this year as well. She urged the public to participate in the immersion procession peacefully and in unity to ensure its success.
Mr Vikrant Patil, who personally toured the Old City area monitoring the situation, said measures were taken to ensure the immersion proceeded peacefully.
Former Rajya Sabha Member T.G. Venkatesh also participated in the immersion process at Vinayaka Ghat and offered special prayers.
Ganesh Utsava Central committee president Venu Gopal, Prachara Pramukh Akkem Viswanath, and others participated.
The corporation took special attention to keep the canal and canal bunds clean and disposed of the garbage promptly throughout the day.
