The Kurnool Municipal Corporation (KMC) is aiming at 100% collection of garbage from the doorsteps of the people.

KMC Commissioner P. Viswanatha directed the sanitary inspectors to take up special programmes to create awareness among the people about the segregation of dry and wet waste. Similarly, he wanted officials to ensure 100% door-to-door collection of garbage by the sanitation staff.

The Commissioner said action will be taken against the official concerned in case of negligence or failure in regard to collection of garbage from the households. He further asked the sanitary inspectors to identify the vulnerable places which might be turned into blackspots for dumping of garbage and also to remove the already existing blackspots.

Mr. Viswanatha asked the officials to track the movement of the garbage collection vehicles with the help of GPRS and also focus on attendance and functioning of the staff. He asked officials to make the premises around schools, hospitals, and bus stands clean and ensure that garbage is not piled up.

Further, the Commissioner asked the sanitary inspectors to speed up works on cleaning of the drains, take up desilting and also fogging at water logging places to prevent breeding of mosquitoes.

Mr. Viswanatha asked officials to resolve the complaints from the people and make effective use of the feedback system in place. “Officials should attend to any negative feedback from the people, visit the spot on the same day of getting the complaint and resolve it,” the Commissioner told the officials. He suggested that the functioning of the field staff should be improved further for maintaining cleanliness in the city.
