In a shocking incident, a woman laboratory technician, Pandimeena, 24, was assaulted by her husband, Vetrivel, 26, when she was at work in Government Virudhunagar Medical College Hospital in the early hours of Monday.
The police said that Pandimeena of Kullursandhai had fallen in love with S. Vetrivel of Arasakudumbanpatti, who is a construction worker.
They got married some six months back and following differences of opinion the couple used to quarrel frequently. As their quarrel intensified, Pandimeena left her husband and went to her father’s place in Kullursandhai.
An irate Vetrivel had come to the hospital and picked a quarrel with Pandimeena at around 2.30 a.m.
As things turned worse, Vetrivel assaulted her and also tried to strangulate her with her dupatta.
However, as the victim raised an alarm, her colleagues came to her rescue. The woman was admitted in the hospital.
Virudhunagar East police have registered a case.
