A 25-year-old labourer was murdered by his uncle and two others allegedly over a love affair after the girl’s family opposed the relationship, in Kunigal on Thursday.
The deceased, Cheluvaraju, was in a relationship with his uncle’s daughter for the past four years but the accused started opposing and threatened Chelavaraju to stay away.
As the girl’s family did not agree to their marriage, Cheluvaraju recently uploaded a video on Facebook stating that he would never leave the woman he loved under any circumstances.
Police said the video angered the girl’s father and relatives who allegedly conspired to eliminate Cheluvaraju. On December 18 at around 4.30 p.m., the accused allegedly took Cheluvaraju from Kunigal town in a car and murdered him by slitting his throat with a machete, between Gattipur–Aralikatte Doddi in Magadi taluk.
Based on a complaint filed by Anna Raju, brother of the victim and a resident of Kothagere village, Kunigal taluk, the Kunigal police arrested Kempanarasimhaiah, 48, a resident of Donakuppe; Manjunath C., 40, a resident of Donakuppe; and Ramakrishna, 40, a resident Kunigal town, Tumakuru district.
While Kempanarasimhaiah and Manjunath were carpenters, Ramakrishna was a woddcutter.
The police have recovered the vehicle and weapons used by the accused to commit the offence.
