Labourer hacked to death in Thoothukudi

A manual labourer was hacked to death near Sattankulam in the district on Friday.

Police said two unidentified persons hacked to death manual labourer K. Sudalaimuthu, 25, of Gandhi Nagar near Sattankulam in the district even as the victim was standing near his house on Friday.

When the Sattankulam police arrived at the spot, the relatives of the deceased protested and staged a road roko. They also prevented the police from taking the body for the post-mortem.

After senior police officials promised that the culprits would be arrested at the earliest, the agitation was withdrawn.

Sattankulam police have registered a case. Four special teams have been formed to nab the culprits.
