Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar on Saturday (December 27) said that most land-related issues in the Amaravati capital region were being resolved in a phased manner, with surveys on ‘jaribu’ lands already completed.
He was speaking at a review meeting at the CRDA office along with Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana and local MLA Tenali Sravan Kumar. Dr. Pemmasani said a committee report would guide decisions on the genuine beneficiaries of jaribu lands.
He noted that problems of 415 people owning plots below 10 cents were being addressed, while requests from farmers who parted with land for road works prior to 2013 to be included under land pooling were not legally feasible. Issues relating to about 150 ‘veedhi potu’ lands and large returnable plots were discussed, besides Gannavaram airport-related concerns. He said 1,596 locals had already been engaged in capital works and efforts were on to involve another 10,000 residents. Village development works would begin from January 1, he added.
MLA Sravan Kumar stressed the need for community halls in every village and sought solutions to cremation ground issues in several areas, including the absence of facilities in Malkapuram and Venkatapuram.
Before the meeting, the leaders observed a minute silence to pay tributes to Amaravati farmer Dondapati Ramarao, who passed away during a land acquisition meeting held on Friday (December 26).
On the other hand, Minister P. Narayana on Saturday visited the residence of late Dondapati Ramarao and consoled his bereaved family members. The Minister expressed condolences and assured the family of all possible support from the government. Mr. Narayana said the State government would stand by the family in every respect during the difficult time. As part of the assurance, he facilitated a conversation between Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and the family members.
During the interaction, the Chief Minister extended his heartfelt sympathies and gave a reassurance to the family, stating that the government would take care of them and extend necessary assistance. He also enquired about the family’s needs and asked officials to ensure appropriate follow-up support.
