Last rites of murder victim conducted in Kundapur

Last rites of 50-year-old Alwyn Prakash Kunder, hailing from Kundapur in Udupi district, who was suspected to have been murdered in Sharjah, was conducted in his home town on Friday.

Soon after body of deceased Kunder arrived by a flight to Mangaluru International Airport on Friday morning, it was sent by road in an ambulance to his house in Honnanakeri in Kundapur. After family members and friends offered their respects, the body was taken for last rites related ceremonies to CSI Krishna Church. Then it was brought to the burial ground near Shastri Circle of Kundapur where the last rites was performed.

Among the people who offered their condolences included Udupi Chikkamagaluru MP Kota Srinivas Poojary, Kundapura MLA Kiran Kumar Kodgi, Coastal Development Authority Chairman M.A. Gafoor, and former MP Jayaprakash Hegde.

The Sharjah police on August 12 found the body of Kunder, a senior manager of a private airliner at Sharjah Airport, in the boot of a car parked by the road towards Oman. The body was cut into pieces, filled in two bags, and stuffed in the car boot. His family received Kunder’s death certificate on September 21. The family members in a representation to Udupi Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar suspected involvement of Kunder’s wife and son, who are presently missing.

Talking to reporters on Friday, Kunder’s brother Anil Prashanth Kunder said the perpetrators of murder should be caught at the earliest and they should undergo harsh punishment for the murder.
