LDF activist in Kerala loses bet, shaves off moustache

The UDF victory in the Pathanamthitta municipality on Saturday cost an LDF worker his moustache.

Babu Varghese, an LDF activist, had struck a bet with his friends during the campaign that he would shave off his moustache if the LDF failed to retain power in the civic body. With the UDF emerging victorious, Mr. Varghese stayed true to his word and adopted a clean-shaven appearance.

Taking the outcome in good spirit, Mr. Varghese said the elections often throw up surprises. “What mattered to me was keeping my promise,” he remarked, adding that losing the moustache was simply part of honouring a wager made in the heat of political banter.
