Leaders pay tributes to language martyrs remembered

Cadres of the DMK, the AIADMK, and other parties on Sunday took out silent marches on the occasion of the Language Martyrs Day here.

A large number of cadres participated in the march organised by the DMK. Minister for Municipal Administration K.N. Nehru led the march. Minister for School Education Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi participated in it. The procession, which began near Salai Road at Thillai Nagar, went through Shastri Road and Anna Nagar and culminated at Thennur. Mr. Nehru, Mayor M. Anbazhagan and office-bearers laid wreath on the memorials of Keezha Pazhur Chninasamy and Viralimalai Shanmugam on the banks of the Uyyakondan canal near Uzhavar Sandhai.

The silent march organised by the AIADMK began at MGR statue. The rally went through Anna Nagar link road, Anna Nagar, and culminated at the memorials of Chinnasamy and Shanmugam. District secretaries Srinivasan (Tiruchi city), P. Kumar, Tiruchi (South), and M. Paranjothi, (Tiruchi North) paid floral tributes to those who sacrificed their lives during the anti-Hindi agitation in the State.

The cadres of AMMK, MDMK and others visited the memorials and paid tributes to the language martyrs.
