Smart glucose monitoring device
Computer Science and Engineering students D. Mohana Sukita, M. Darshini and T. Priyadarshini of Latha Mathavan Engineering College, Alagar Kovil, Madurai, have developed a smart glucose monitoring and alert device under the guidance of Chairman Datuk Mathavan.
The device uses a capacitance liquid-level sensor and Arduino to monitor glucose levels and alert medical staff through an alarm and LED light when the fluid runs low.
It also automatically stops the flow to prevent air from entering the patient’s vein. Costing ₹2,500, the device aims to reduce nurses’ workload and improve patient safety. Executive Director Dinesh Madhavan, Joint Secretary Jagan Madhavan, Principal Gnanasekaran and other college officials congratulated the students.
Alumnae meet
Lady Doak College, Madurai, hosted its Annual Alumnae Meet, with around 504 alumnae participating. The event featured a presentation by secretary D. Joy Marjorie Annal and Treasurer D. Deva Sangeetha on the association’s activities and achievements. Principal and Secretary R. Beulah Jeyashree spoke on the institution’s growth, while Chairperson Belinda Bennet shared her greetings. President of the Alumnae Association S. Sri Latha welcomed. Cultural programme by students and alumnae marked the occasion. Vice-President M. Briget Mary proposed a vote of thanks.
