Malappuram District Collector Vinay Goyal has advised people to avoid travelling through Gudalur on Friday (August 28, 2026) in view of the ongoing hartal following the deaths of two people in tiger attacks.

A 48-hour hartal began in Gudalur on Thursday (August 27, 2026), demanding the capture of the tiger. Traffic has been disrupted, with no vehicles being allowed through the area, while shops and businesses remain closed.

Travellers from Keralam, particularly Malappuram, are facing difficulties. Many people from the State travel through Gudalur to Ooty and Mysuru during the holiday season.

The Collector warned that vehicles arriving unaware of the hartal could lead to traffic congestion and other problems. “People from Malappuram should avoid travelling through Gudalur on August 27 and 28,” Mr. Goyal said.
