A 38-year-old man and his five-year-old son were found dead under suspicious circumstances at Gudde Basavapura in Chikkabanavara, on Sunday night, with the police suspecting foul play.

The deceased have been identified as Abhinandan, a private firm employee, and his son Yaduveer. Abhinandan and his wife Harini had been married for around six years and were living with their son at Gudde Basavapura.

According to preliminary information, Abhinandan had returned home on Sunday night and slept with his son. However, when family members checked on them on Monday morning, both were found dead.

The police noticed blood oozing from Abhinandan’s ears and injury marks on his body, raising suspicion over the circumstances of his death. The death of his five-year-old son has also been described as suspicious.

During the preliminary investigation, the police learnt that Abhinandan and Harini had a quarrel on Sunday night. Following the argument, the couple reportedly slept in separate rooms, with Abhinandan sleeping with his son in another room.

The police are now probing whether the deaths occurred following the domestic dispute.

The police have seized the mobile phones of the deceased and Harini and are examining call records and other digital evidence. They have also obtained the phone number of a friend of Harini’s and are reportedly checking the communication between them.

The Chikkabanavara police visited the scene, conducted a spot inspection, and questioned Harini following the mahazar. The police are investigating all possible angles, including the possibility of a double murder, while awaiting forensic and post-mortem reports for further investigation.
