A 28-year-old man who allegedly collected ₹25.87 lakh from nine people promising to secure government jobs for them and issued fake appointment orders has been arrested by the Avadi Central Crime Branch.

According to the police, the accused, M. Deepak, 28, of Sundarasolapuram in Thiruverkadu, claimed that he was working as a secretary at the Secretariat. He promised to secure government jobs, including Village Administrative Officer (VAO), Revenue Inspector (RI), Deputy Tahsildar, and Tahsildar posts, for the complainant and her son, brother, nephew, and other relatives.

The police said Deepak collected up to ₹2 lakh from each person and received a total of ₹25,87,475. He allegedly handed them fake appointment orders, claiming that the jobs had been secured.

Based on complaints from nine people, the Avadi Central Crime Branch’s Employment Fraud Prevention Wing registered a case on September 29 and launched an investigation. The police traced and arrested Deepak. He was produced before the JM-I Court in Poonamallee and remanded in judicial custody.

The police have appealed to anyone who may have paid Deepak money after being promised a government job to approach the Avadi Central Crime Branch.
