A 40-year-old man died in Pulianthope on Friday allegedly after being beaten up by his neighbour. The relatives of the man gathered in front of the Basin Bridge police station and demanded that the accused be arrested immediately.
According to police, the victim has been identified as Sankar alias Sivakumar, 40, a resident of K.P Park in Pulianthope. He was allegedly beaten by his neighbour Kavya on December 29, following a quarrel. His relatives took him to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital. Though there were no external injuries, a scan report indicated that his skull had cracks. He died at the hospital without responding to treatment. His relatives gathered in front of the police station and demanded her arrest immediately.
However, a senior police officer said the preliminary investigation suggested that the reason behind the death was suspicious. It is not clear whether it was an accidental fall or he was beaten to death. Hence, the body was sent for a post-mortem, and further course of action would be taken after the report.
