A 30-year-old man died in a road accident, involving a car in which Rajendra Prasad, personal secretary to Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, was travelling, on Thursday night.
The deceased has been identified as Manjunath Byranahatti, a resident of Saundatti. Byranahatti was an employee of Harsha Sugar Factory, owned by Minister for Women and Child Development Laxmi Hebbalkar’s family.
He had left his home for work. At the Saundatti Cross, he was hit by the car and died on the spot with serious head injuries.
The personal secretary was also injured in the incident, and escaped with minor injuries.
A case has been registered at the Saundatti police station.
