A man sustained injuries after being attacked by a wild elephant at Solagar Dhoddi in the Thalavadi hills on Saturday (December 13, 2025) morning.
Alumatha, 60, was walking along the road when the elephant, coming from a nearby agricultural field, suddenly attacked him, injuring his arms and legs. Hearing his cries, nearby villagers rushed to help and called an ambulance.
Angered by repeated incidents involving residents in the area, the villagers blocked the ambulance, demanding the presence of the Jeerahalli Forest Range Officer. After forest officials intervened and held talks, the injured man was taken to the Government Upgraded Primary Health Centre in Thalavadi for first aid, and later referred to the Government Hospital in Chamarajanagar, Karnataka, for further treatment.
The Forest department and Thalavadi police are investigating the incident.
