Donors handed over a newly built house on Wednesday (July 1) to a woman whose kutcha house was destroyed during last year’s rains at Thuppekallu in Arkula, off Mangaluru.

Kishan J. Shetty, entrepreneur and owner of Adyar Gardens, who is involved in social service, bore the whole construction cost after learning about how the rains had ravaged Jayanthi Paramashiva’s tin-sheet house.

The incident last year left Ms. Paramashiva, her brother and ailing sister in dire straits. Their plight was brought to Mr. Kishan’s notice by Adyar Gram Panchayat staff Dhananjaya Thuppekallu, social worker Manoj Thuppekallu and Adyar Gardens manager Diwakar Shetty Nadiguthu.

The construction of the new house was completed in a short time, and the house-warming and handover ceremony of the house was held in line with the appropriate religious rituals, performed by Polali Giri Prakash Tantri. The handover ceremony was inaugurated by Shri Kshetra Arkula trustee Vajranabha Shetty of Arkula Beedu.

As Mr. Kishan was unable to attend the event due to personal reasons, his brother-in-law and owner of Mahesh Travels, Sanjyothi Shekha, handed over the keys of the new house to Ms. Paramashiva on his behalf.
