Minister urges calm amid tiger movement in East Godavari district

Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh on Tuesday asked the people not to panic over the reported movement of a tiger near Rajanagaram in East Godavari district. He said the Forest Department officials have deployed cages, camera trap, and drones to capture the animal. He further added that he was closely monitoring the situation.

Speaking over the phone with district Forest Department officials, the Minister enquired about the latest movements of the tiger and said that the situation was being closely monitored.

The officials informed the Minister that over the past few days, the tiger has been roaming near Thorrur and Seethanagaram and that its pugmarks had been identified. They assured him that the animal would be captured soon. The Minister recalled that there had been a similar instance of tiger movement in the same region earlier. He instructed officials to take necessary precautions and act swiftly and also directed that warning boards be installed immediately to alert the public.

The Minister advised the public to remain cautious until the animal was safely secured. He urged farmers not to visit agricultural fields alone and advised them to install bright lighting around cattle sheds at night.

Mr. Durgesh said that ensuring the safety of the public was the government’s highest priority and assured people that necessary measures were being taken to capture the tiger at the earliest.
