Minor gives birth to baby; case booked against school van driver in Hassan

A minor girl was allegedly raped by a school van driver in Hassan district several months ago. The incident came to light after the survivor delivered a baby on December 22.

The girl, studying in a private school, was taken by her parents to a doctor after she complained of stomach pain. The doctor then stated that she was pregnant.

After enquiry, the parents learned that the driver had committed the crime. The Hassan police have registered the case under the POCSO Act, 2012, besides other sections of the BNS. The accused is on the run.
