A 34-year-old man from Kanniyakumari, who was reportedly missing, was found dead near Leepuram seashore in the late hours of Wednesday.
Police said, S. Marimuthu, 34, a daily wage labourer from Sundanparappu village had gone missing and a missing person case had been registered at Kanniyakumari police station based on a complaint filed by his wife on Wednesday morning.
After receiving an alert that a man’s body was found near Leepuram seashore, police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and identified the deceased as Marimuthu.
Police said that they have detained three men who worked with Marimuthu and are investigating. As the suspects are giving contradictory statements, their involvement in the death of Marimuthu can only be confirmed after discreet investigation.
The body has been sent to Kanniyakumari Government Medical College and Hospital for post mortem examination.
Further investigations are under way.
