NECF says Netravathi riverfront has to be restored to original status

The National Environment Care Foundation (NECF), one of the petitioners in the Netravathi Waterfront Promenade project before the National Green Tribunal, on Tuesday, said Mangaluru Smart City Ltd. (MSCL) has to dismantle all the works of the project and restore originality as it was an illegal project.

In a statement here, the foundation said the NGT in its March 24 order disposing off pleas by NECF and suo motu, had directed that the project should be executed as per the CRZ notification of 2011. The walking path and bicycle track being constructed as a part of the waterfront project were not permitted activities as per exceptions given in Paragraph 3 of the notification, it claimed.
