The newly appointed national working president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Nitin Nabin, on Tuesday (December 23, 2025) received a grand welcome on his first visit to Bihar after assuming charge last week.
Addressing party workers at Miller High School in Patna, Mr. Nabin said that everyone had to live up to the expectations of people after winning 202 seats in Bihar.

On his first visit to his hometown, the Bankipore MLA also used the occasion to attack Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, calling him a “part-time” politician. The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha defamed the name of the country whenever he made a foreign visit, Mr. Nabin alleged.
“We do not want to do part-time politics like Rahul Gandhi. The people of Bihar chased Rahul away so much that he ended up settling in Germany where he is defaming the name of our country,” Mr. Nabin said.
Mr. Gandhi had a tendency to insult the Constitution, Constitutional institutions, the Election Commission of India, and the Supreme Court while in the country, and then go abroad and insult the entire nation, Mr. Nabin said.

“It is not appropriate to call such people young leaders, and the time has come for the public to give them a fitting reply for such behaviour,” Mr. Nabin said.
“There is a part-time politician in Bihar too and whenever he loses elections, he goes abroad on vacation,” Mr. Nabin said, in a reference to Tejashwi Yadav, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader.
On his two-day visit to Bihar, Mr. Nabin said that after Bihar, the BJP would win in West Bengal and Kerala as well. The BJP is the party in which any worker who works with honesty and determination can reach the top, Mr. Nabin said.
“The BJP moves forward by embracing its workers like a family. There is no place for shortcuts in politics; one must stay away from shortcuts in politics,” Mr. Nabin said.
Earlier in the day, Mr. Nabin led a 6-km-long roadshow from Patna airport, along with senior leaders of the party, including both Deputy Chief Ministers of Bihar, Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, and also Bihar BJP State president Sanjay Saraogi. Mr. Nabin stood atop a vehicle bedecked with flowers and cut-outs of the lotus, the party’s election symbol.
The BJP is the only political party in the country that has prioritised the hard work, dedication, and struggle of its workers over dynastic politics in both the organisation and in power, Mr. Choudhary said, addressing party workers.
Even today, the perception persists in the country that positions and opportunities are limited to those close to the leadership or to a single family, but the BJP had broken this notion, he added.
“The BJP has shown the courage to entrust leadership to workers from the first generation to the third generation. This courage is not found in any other party,” Mr. Choudhary said.

Mr. Choudhary took a dig at the RJD and the Samajwadi Party (SP). “Whether it is the RJD, the SP or the Trinamool Congress (TMC), the leadership and positions there are always centered around a single family. The party’s leadership emerges from that same family,” he said.
Mr. Nabin also paid a courtesy visit to the official residence of Governor Arif Mohammed Khan and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, along with BJP leaders. Later in the evening, he held a meeting with the party MLAs and MPs at the BJP’s State headquarters.
