Farmers have been directed to insure their samba crop for the current season before November 15.

District Collector V. Mohanachandran, in a press release, urged farmers not to wait for the last date for insuring their crop and complete the exercise as early as possible. While ₹1,441.25 has been fixed as the premium for crop raised in a hectare, farmers can insure their crop by remitting ₹583.50 an acre.

It was expected that samba and thaladi crops would be raised on 1.46 lakh hectares this season, the Collector said that sufficient stock of urea and other fertilizers were available in the district.
