With the objective of positioning NTR district as a top tourism destination, the district administration has launched a dedicated tourism mobility platform named “Andhra Taxi”, offering safe, affordable, and enjoyable travel services to tourists.
NTR District Collector Dr. G. Lakshmisha said the initiative reflects Team NTR’s commitment to tourism development in line with the State government’s vision.
The Andhra Taxi mobile application was formally launched on Thursday at the Sri Pingali Venkayya Conference Hall in the District Collectorate.
The event was attended by representatives of taxi and auto unions, drivers, and officials from the tourism and transport departments. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said tourism plays a crucial role in driving the service sector and the economy, and NTR district has immense potential in spiritual, ecological, and historical tourism.
Dr. Lakshmisha said the Andhra Taxi app has been designed to provide tourists with convenient, secure, and cost-effective travel services.
He described the app as an ideal choice for comfortable travel, offering features such as NTR district tourism information, transport services, agricultural drone services, and SOS connectivity linked to nearby police stations. In addition to the mobile app, booking facilities are also available through QR codes, WhatsApp, and a dedicated website.
The Collector informed that specially curated tourism packages of one, two, three, and four days have been made available through the app. The one-day package includes visits to Sri Kanaka Durga Temple, Berram Park, Kondapalli Fort, Pavitra Sangamam (ferry ghat), Bhavani Island, Bapu Museum, and Gandhi Hill. Details of extended packages are also available within the app. She added that local youth have already been trained as tourist guides to enhance visitor experience.
Calling auto and taxi drivers “tourism ambassadors” of the district, Dr. Lakshmisha urged them to ensure quality service and warm hospitality so that visitors carry pleasant memories of Vijayawada and NTR district.
