The Rajagopalnagar police have registered a sexual harassment case against a man for allegedly subjecting a 32-year-old married woman to mental and physical harassment after offering her financial help during a crisis.
The complainant claimed that she came in contact with the accused, identified as Paritosh Yadav, through social media.
Over time, the two developed a friendship. Meanwhile, the woman’s daughter suffered serious injuries following a gas cylinder leak at their residence. For her daughter’s medical treatment, the woman reportedly borrowed ₹30,000 from the accused.
The police said the accused later used the loan as leverage to harass the woman and pressure her into a physical relationship.
The matter eventually came to the notice of the woman’s husband, leading to marital discord. Distressed by the situation, the woman allegedly attempted to end her life at a friend’s house in Peenya. However, the timely intervention of her friends saved her life.
Subsequently, the woman approached the Rajagopalnagar Police Station and lodged a complaint, seeking action against the accused for mental harassment. The police have registered a case and were investigating the matter.
