Paid holiday for workers on April 23

The Department of Industrial Safety and Health has directed industries to declare a paid holiday for employees on the polling day on April 23.

In a release, Joint Director of Industrial Safety and Health S. Anitha Rosaline Mary said Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in Puducherry, Kerala and Assam on April 9, and in West Bengal on April 23 and 29. Also, in Tamil Nadu, polling is scheduled on April 23. Workers from other States employed in industries in the district and eligible to vote should be granted leave on the respective polling days.

The release added that if leave is not granted, complaints may be lodged with the District Control Room at 0424-2219521, 0424-2211780, 98422-91343, and 95516-21162.
