Patriotic fervour and gaiety marked the Republic Day celebrations in Perambalur and Pudukottai districts on Monday (January 26, 2026).

In Perambalur, the District Collector N. Mirunalini unfurled the national flag at the celebration organised at the Dr. MGR sports stadium and took the salute at the ceremonial parade by the police personnel.

The Collector honoured the legal heirs of the freedom fighters by adorning each one of them with a shawl and distributed welfare assistance to the tune of ₹1.87 crore given through different government departments to 113 beneficiaries.

The Collector presented the Chief Minister’s medal to 21 police personnel for their excellent work. She also gave away appreciation certificates to 53 other police personnel and 362 government officials.

Over 500 students of various schools in Perambalur district performed cultural programmes on the occasion. The Superintendent of Police, Perambalur G.S. Anitha and officials of all government departments participated in the celebration, an official release said.

Pudukottai

Pudukottai Collector M. Aruna unfurled the national flag at the Republic Day celebration organised by the district administration at the Armed Reserve ground in Pudukottai. The Collector honoured the legal heirs of the freedom fighters by presenting each one of them with a shawl. She distributed welfare assistance to the tune of ₹32.11 lakh given through various government departments to 47 beneficiaries. 

She gave away certificates to 391 officials of different government departments in appreciation of their excellent service. Students of various schools performed cultural events on the occasion. The Superintendent of Police, Pudukottai Abhishek Gupta and officials from all government departments participated.
