PEDDAPALLI
Peddapalli MP Gaddam Vamsi Krishna has urged Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers Jagat Prakash Nadda to order an independent technical review of the repeated shutdowns at Ramagundam Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited (RFCL) and shift its corporate office from Noida to Peddapalli.
In a memorandum addressed to the Union Minister on Tuesday (September 29, 2026), Mr. Vamsi Krishna said RFCL was revived to produce urea closer to farmers, but repeated production disruptions, including another reported shutdown this week, had raised concerns over the plant’s reliability to ensure a steady supply of urea.
He recalled the efforts of his grandfather, the late Gaddam Venkataswamy, and father, Dr. G. Vivek Venkataswamy, towards the revival of the Ramagundam plant.
“In 2013, the UPA government approved a waiver of over ₹10,000 crore in loans and interest for the Fertilizer Corporation of India Limited (FCIL) as a whole, helping clear the way for the revival of its closed units, including Ramagundam,” he said.
The MP said the revival effort must translate into reliable urea production for Telangana and the country.
Citing recent reports that RFCL’s output had fallen to around 70% of capacity, he urged the Union Ministry to publish month-wise production and shutdown data to help farmers know the plant’s current status.
“Telangana farmers are being betrayed when a plant built to serve them cannot produce reliably,” he added.
He also sought a time-bound plan to restore safe and sustained production at full capacity and ensure adequate and timely allocation of RFCL urea to Telangana.
