The Greater Chennai Traffic Police have announced traffic diversions for commercial and heavy vehicles at several locations in the city on Sunday (October 11, 2026) in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Chennai.

The restrictions will be in force from 8 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety.

Vehicles coming from Tambaram on GST Road will be diverted at Tiruneermalai Junction towards Kundrathur Road. Vehicles from Pallavaram will be diverted at International Airport Junction near Hotel Airway towards Tambaram.

Vehicles proceeding from Koyambedu on the Jawaharlal Nehru 100 Feet Road towards Kathipara Bridge will be diverted at Ashok Nagar Second Avenue towards Koyambedu or K.K. Nagar. Those coming from Ashok Pillar will be diverted at CIPET Junction towards Guindy Industrial Estate.

On Mount Poonamallee Road, commercial and heavy vehicles will be diverted at Porur Toll Plaza towards Maduravoyal and at Ramapuram Junction towards Arasamaram Junction.

Vehicles coming from the Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR) and Sardar Patel Road towards Lok Bhavan will be diverted at Gandhimandapam Junction towards CPT. Vehicles coming from Gandhimandapam Salai will also be diverted at the junction towards CPT.

Vehicles proceeding from Velachery Main Road towards Sardar Patel Road will be diverted at Guru Nanak Junction towards Velachery.

Vehicles coming from Anna Salai towards Lok Bhavan will be diverted at MC Raja U-turn towards Anna Salai and allowed to proceed to their respective destinations.

The traffic police have urged motorists, the public, and transport operators to follow the diversion routes and plan their journeys accordingly to avoid inconvenience during the restricted hours.
