A man was sentenced to double life term by the POCSO court here for rape of an 11-year-old girl. The accused Babu (32), a wage labourer had sexually assaulted the girl in 2024. The survivor fell ill and was taken by her parents to Dharmapuri government hospital, where she was found to be pregnant. A case was registered and the accused was tracked and arrested. The case was brought to trial at the POCSO court here. The court sentenced him to double life term and slapped a fine of ₹70,000 on him.
