Police announce traffic curbs, safety norms for TVK meeting in Erode on December 18

The district police on Tuesday announced traffic diversions and safety regulations in view of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) campaign meeting scheduled for December 18 near the Vijayamangalam toll plaza in Perundurai taluk.

According to a police press release, vehicles from Salem via the National Highway have been directed to use alternative routes through Kunnathur Road, IRTT Bridge, Seenapuram and Ayegoundanpalayam to reach the designated parking areas near the venue. Vehicles from Perundurai, Chennimalai and Kangeyam have been asked to approach via the Perundurai New Bus Stand and Olapalayam routes, while those from Sathyamangalam, Gobichettipalayam and Kunnathur should use the Seenapuram–Ayegoundanpalayam route.

Vehicles from Coimbatore have been advised to proceed via the Kalliyampudur service road, Vijayamangalam, Sandaipettai and Ponmudi. In the event of congestion on the National Highway, heavy vehicles from the Salem side will be diverted through Kalliyampudur, Gray Nagar, Thingalur and Thudupathi.

The police have mandated that vehicles be parked only in designated areas and warned that unauthorised parking would result in the seizure of vehicles. Carrying weapons, inflammable materials or bursting firecrackers has been prohibited, and violators will face legal action.

Climbing trees, electric poles, hoardings or other elevated structures near the venue has been banned, and processions, roadshows or welcome arrangements on highways and public roads will not be permitted. Attendees have also been cautioned against travelling on vehicle rooftops or obscuring registration numbers with party flags.

Citing safety concerns, the police advised children, pregnant women and elderly persons to avoid attending the meeting. Medical teams will be deployed at the venue, and the public have been urged to seek immediate assistance from police or medical personnel in case of emergencies.

The district police appealed to the public to cooperate with security arrangements and traffic regulations to ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of the event.
