Police deploy thousands for New Year security in Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli and Kanniyakumari

Thoothukudi district police announced that legal action will be taken against individuals organising DJ parties without permission or engaging in activities that disturbs the public, in the view of 2026 New Year celebrations in Thoothukudi district.

According to the press release, as per the orders of Thoothukudi district Superintendent of Police Albert John, 2,500 police personnel have been deployed for security, ahead of New Year celebrations.

The police further stated that bursting crackers in public places in a manner that threatens or causes fear among the public is strictly prohibited, throughout the New Year celebrations.

Bike racing and racing on vehicles are completely banned during celebrations and violators will be arrested and their bike will be seized along with cancellation of driving licenses. Similarly performing bike stunts such as wheeling, overspeeding, consuming alcohol in public places will attract legal action.

As part of the new year security arrangements, police personnel will be deployed for safety duty and will conduct regular patrol using two-wheeler and four wheelers. In addition, two 360 degree view CCTV equipped police patrols will be deployed at key locations in Thoothukdui city, and two night vision drone cameras will also be used for continuous monitoring and security operation.

In Tirunelveli district 1,500 police personnel have been deployed for new year security arrangements across the district. Under all police jurisdiction, round the clock patrols will be conducted using 46 two wheelers and 38 four wheelers and vehicle checkpost have been set up at 164 locations across the district.

A total of 1,544 police personnel have been deployed for security duty across Kanniyakumari district, under the orders of Kanniyakumari SP R. Stalin.

Mr. Stalin said that strict action will be taken against individuals involved in vehicle stunts during new year celebrations, monitored through ANPR cameras.

As part of the security arrangements, 80 temporary police checkpost have been set up across the district. Police patrols including five highway patrol, seven crime control patrol, five emergency response patrol, five four wheeler patrol, 30 mobile patrol, two tourist patrol and 27 two wheeler patrol teams, have been deployed for the security duty.
