Pondicherry University rolls out a suite of ICT services

Pondicherry University has launched a suite of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) services.

According to a press note from the varsity, the newly-introduced functions, include an e-Office (paperless administration), intercom and enhanced CCTV surveillance system.

P. Prakash Babu, Vice-Chancellor of Pondicherry University inaugurated the services to be operationalised through its Computer Centre in the presence of officials.

The newly-introduced e-Office system aims to enhance efficiency and paperless governance in the University administration, while the intercom system is expected to strengthen internal communication across satellite campuses at Port Blair (Andaman and Nicobar Islands), Karaikal and the community colleges at Lawspet and Mahe.

The modern CCTV surveillance system will significantly improve safety and security on the campus of the Central University, the press note said.

Speaking on the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor highlighted the importance of leveraging ICT to modernise academic and administrative processes and reaffirmed the University’s commitment to digital transformation in line with national initiatives.

A robust ICT-driven infrastructure will serve to provide a secure, efficient, and digitally-enabled campus environment, the University said. It will also enhance the effort to achieve excellence in teaching, research, and digital transformation, it added.
